Internship programmes in intergovernmental organizations are one of the opportunities that are available. . In addition to the benefits mentioned above, they refer to organizations that work with multiple countries and have a humanitarian nature, which allows them to contribute to a more sustainable, fair world.

African Development Bank

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. They are for master’s degree students who are younger than 30 years. Internships are in a bank office in Africa. Asian Development Bank

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. They are for master and doctorate degree students. Tenders open twice a year, so applicants should analyse the internship opportunities in the several areas of the bank. Most internships take place in Manila, Philippines. International Committee of the Red Cross

The International Committee of the Red Cross does not have an internship programme, but there is the possibility to apply to vacancies throughout the year. Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. People with a degree and one year of professional experience can also apply. International Monetary Fund

Internships are for master and doctorate degree students (they must have at least one year completed) in the fields of macroeconomics or related and who are younger than 28 years and 32 years, respectively. International Organization for Migration

The International Committee of the Red Cross does not have an internship programme, but there is the possibility to apply to vacancies throughout the year. Applicants should be attending the last year of their bachelor’s degree or attending the master’s degree. Students with 36 years or less can apply. Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. Internships take place in Geneva, Switzerland, or in a national office. No information about an Internship Grant. International Labour organization

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. Applicants should be bachelor, master or doctorate degree students or by six months after they have completed their degree. Students should apply to the vacancies. Offers grant. NATO – North Atlantic Treaty Organization

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. Applicants should be attending their last year or the master’s degree and be older than 21 years. OECD – Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. Applicants should be full-time students. Tenders open twice a year. UN – United Nations

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. Applicants should be master or doctorate students or should have completed their degree in less than one year. There are always vacancies for internships in the UN in its many offices around the world. Does not offer internship grant. For more information about the internship, check the link: Access here

African Union

Internships are for economics, law, gender studies and environment students, so students from the ECSH or ESPP can apply. Applicants should be in the final year of their bachelor’s degree or be master or doctorate degree students. They should apply to the vacancies on the website. . Does not offer internship grants. UNICEF

Internships are for people with degrees in several fields, so all students can apply. Applicants should be bachelor, master or doctorate degree students or have completed their degree two years before they apply. There are opportunities with grants and opportunities without grants. World Health Organization

Internships are for students in the fields of management or Social Sciences. Applicants can be master or bachelor’s degree students provided that, at the time of the internship, they have completed three years of study. Applicants can also be graduates, provided that they have completed their course no more than six months before they apply. There is no support grant. IEFP Internships

Measures that result in support to professional (re)insertion of their recipients by developing an on-job practical training experience.

• Non-funded internships

Nine-month, non-extendable internships that aim to promote the insertion of youths in the labour market or the professional reconversion of the unemployed.

Notes:
(i) An internship is the development of an on-job practical experience that cannot consist in the occupation of a work position.
(ii) Curricular internships of any course or internships whose plan required a training profile and skills in the field of medicine or nursing are not encompassed by this measure.
(iii) This measure can encompass internships for access to regulated professions, without prejudice to the decisions of Public Professional Associations.
(iv) Internships for people with disabilities; people who are part of a single parent family; people whose spouse or unmarried partner is also registered as unemployed with the IEFP; people who are victims of domestic violence; ex-convicts or people who are serving/have served a sentence or non-custodial sentence; recovering drug addicts; homeless people; people who have been granted the informal Caregiver Status and have provided care while main caregiver, have a duration of 12 months, non-extendable.
(v) Internships promoted by entities who are encompassed by the special regime recognised by the IEFP as entities of strategic interest for national economy or the economy of a given region, can have a duration of 6, 9 or 12 months.

• Non-funded internships

As an employer, you can always organize and promote internships without public funding.
There is a set of rules that the professional internships must observe. Those relate to the maximum duration of the internships, signing of contracts, applicable working hours, absence regime, health and work safety contributions, social security contributions, appointment of an internship supervisor, payment of internship and meal allowances and insurance, and also the conditions for the suspension or termination of an internship contract.

Internships with the City Hall of Lisbon

The City Hall of Lisbon and its Department of Development and Training / Municipal Human Resources Management promote the Internship Programme of the Municipality of Lisbon.

This programme is applied under the Internship Regulation of the Lisbon Municipality.
The Regulation establishes three internship modes:
• Professional training internships
• Curricular internships
• Internships that lead to the exercise of a regulated profession
